THE FEED
Each week the Volunteer Center will highlight an exciting skill-based volunteer (SBV) opportunity found on our Volunteer Solutions website. This week's SBV opportunity comes from the Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center:
Job Corps Interns Needed!
College students heading back to school may want to consider our skills-based opportunity of the week. The Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center is looking for individuals interested in participating in various on-center internship opportunities.
Interns are needed in the following areas: counseling. academic, and mental health departments, as well as other areas of the program. Internships can be coordinated and designed to fit the individual needs of the candidate and would provide on-site training and experience working with at-risk, diverse, young adults.
All interns would be required to complete a volunteer application and submit to a background check and drug screening.

As a long-time community leader, Heart of West Michigan United Way collaborates with other organizations throughout West Michigan to advance the common good - that is, to direct change and create opportunities for a good life for all who live here. We focus our efforts in three critical areas: education, income and health, which are the building blocks to a successful life. A quality education that leads to a stable job, enough to support a family through retirement, with good health at every stage. Our goal is to work toward long-lasting changes that truly make an impact. So while we support those who have fallen on hard times, we also work to identify the root causes of problems. Then we build preventative systems that keep those problems from happening in the first place.
