Author Monica McFawn will share her Flannery O'Connor Short Fiction Award winning story collection, BRIGHT SHARDS OF SOMEPLACE ELSE, on Friday, September 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Great Lakes Commonwealth of Letters. GLCL is located at 758 Wealthy St SE in Grand Rapids. Parking is available in GLCL's lot, located 1/2 block in back of their building, off of Eastern. There is no charge for this event.In her new story collection, McFawn traces the combustive, hilarious, and profound effects that occur when people misread the minds of others. In addition to her positive reviews in Kirkus Review and Booklist, Monica has also won praise from authors Jaimy Gordon, Caitlin Horrocks, and Daniel Orozco. Books will be available for purchase and author's signature.Monica McFawn’s fiction has appeared in such journals as the Georgia Review, GettysburgReview, Web Conjunctions, and Missouri Review. Her plays and screenplays have been read in Chicago and New York.
