Since 1847, the lakeshore has been a site for both industry and leisure for residents and tourists. One of the more famous summer residents was L. Frank Baum (1856-1919), author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Baum first visited Macatawa in 1899 and later used profits from Father Goose to purchase land and build a cottage, The Sign of the Goose. This exhibition consists of photographs of people and places in and around Macatawa Park from the time the Baum family would have been in residence.
