This exhibit provides insights into the role of religion in the daily life in Oman. Islam in Oman is linked among the various religious factions in the country and it helps safeguard cultural identity in these times of great change. This exhibition demonstrates that “progress” does not necessarily go hand in hand with loss of cultural identity. The exhibit explores the practice of religion in this modern Arabian society. Accompanying the exhibition is a short documentary film, Religious Tolerance in Oman by the award-winning German Filmmaker Wolfgang Ettlich, commissioned b the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) to document religious life in the country.
