The Climate Ride Party (5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 19) provides you and your friends the opportunity to raise awareness of the effects of climate change, while also supporting your favorite local nonprofits...all in a fun and festive outdoor atmosphere.
Join the Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition, Local First, The Nest, The Spoke Folks, Well House and the West Michigan Environmental Action Council on the front lawn of Mangiamo for light refreshments, including tasty offerings from local food trucks (Daddy Pete's BBQ and Mangiamo's own pizza cart).
In September, these six local nonprofits will participate in the first-ever Climate Ride Midwest, a four-day, fully-supported bike tour from Grand Rapids to Chicago. Climate Ride encompasses bicycle advocacy, green energy, combating climate change and promoting sustainability.
Cost: $15 - includes entrance to the lawn (with plenty of lawn games!) and a food ticket redeemable for a Climate Ride Special at on-site food trucks. All proceeds will be equally shared among the six participating nonprofit organizations. Bike parking and light maintenance provided on site.
For even more fun, join the all-inclusive, free group ride (hosted by New Belgium Brewing) departing at 4 p.m. from Spoke Folks (221 Logan St. SW) and concluding at the party. All ages are welcome and there's no cost to participate in the group ride, though helmets are strongly encouraged.
