Grand Rapids, MI - Our public education system is currently struggling in an age of over-testing, budget cuts, and teacher layoffs. All across America families are becoming increasingly frustrated with public education and are seeking alternative options for their children. “Class Dismissed” is a documentary that asks some big questions of the current options out there, and follows one particular family in their journey to take education into their own hands.

In the words of author and blogger Jamie Glowacki, “If you have even a sliver of the tiniest thought that our current public school system isn’t working for you, please see this film. If you are considering any alternative learning situation for your child, please see this film. If homeschooling has crossed your mind but scares the heck out of you, please see this film."

On Monday evening, April 27, Open Doors Center for Self-Directed Teens will bring this powerful documentary to Grand Rapids with a screening at Fountain Street Church. All ages are encouraged to come view the film and learn more about the educational options available to them. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the documentary will begin at 7:00pm. There will be a $5 admission fee for ages 12 and up.

Following the film, there will be time for discussion, facilitated by Open Doors’ executive director, Rebecca Kirk.

Open Doors Center for Self-Directed Teens is a resource center that focuses on individualized learning plans to help teens regain their natural love of learning. The staff at Open Doors guides families through opting out of the tradition education system and jumping into a real education in the real world.
