To give community members the opportunity to participate in the Heartside neighborhood and to spread holiday cheer along South Division (from Wealthy and Fulton), Dwelling Place hosted Deck the Avenue on December 1, 2009. It was the organization's first try at creating volunteer opportunities in the neighborhood, and 25 people responded, spending the afternoon distributing wreaths, hanging lights and adding festive paintings to business windows. In all, 13 businesses participated in the event.
By day I serve as the PR & Marketing Specialist at Grand Rapids Community Foundation. After hours I enjoy advancing the professionalism of the next generation of nonprofit professionals through my involvement the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Greater Grand Rapids. I love GR restaurants, parks and nonprofits.
