The Kendall College of Art and Design Graduate Studio space features 35 KCAD grads majoring in Printmaking, Drawing, Painting and Photography.  Their work ranges from highly rendered figurative work to abstract forms and patterns—featuring watercolor, woodblock prints, oil and acrylic paintings, graphite and charcoal drawings, and both digital and film photography.  Most of the artists will be on hand during the event to talk with visitors about their work and answer questions about their process.

In addition to the work hanging in the gallery, many of the artist’s studios will be open for viewing.  This is a unique opportunity for visitors to get a behind the scenes look at how Kendall’s artists are creating their artwork.  Art.Downtown. goers will see not only finished pieces but also works-in-progress!

The artists are also selling a variety small works for $25.00 as a fundraiser for the KCAD Master of Fine Arts Club during the Art.Downtown.  The proceeds will go towards future exhibitions and events in the community.

As well as the amazing art at this Art.Downtown. location, there will be refreshments, restrooms, and an extensive amount of free parking.  The KCAD Graduate Studios is Stop 6 out of the 7 trolley stops, so this makes this venue a great place to start or finish your night.

Art.Downtown. is Friday, April 15 from 6-11pm.  This one night only event features over 28 venues and contains the works of over 250 local artists.  Jump on one of the 2 free trolleys provided to guests all night and visit the Kendall Graduate Studios or other venues like the “JA” Building, the location of SiTE:LAB’s project Praxis or the Grand Rapids Art Museum, where the John James Audobon exhibition opens.  All of this and more will be coming to Downtown Grand Rapids for one night only this Friday starting at 6pm!
