THE FEED
A recent Gallup poll reports that the number one reason people become attached to a community is “openness.” For a region to prosper it must embrace people and ideas that are different. This belief is at the core of UICA. Every day we help our community to become more tolerant and informed. Our youth advancement programs have been twice recognized among the best in the country. As the only institutional partner of ArtPrize, UICA brought attention, education and influence to our city from more than 20 countries.
UICA is also one of only two contemporary art centers in the U.S. to be awarded the maximum grant for “engaging communities” by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The IMLS has selected UICA as a national model, a shining example of Michigan’s excellence. The award will match your gifts to UICA on a 1:1 basis, doubling them during one of the most important years in UICA’s history.
We achieve so much because we work in collaboration, we love to innovate, and we are supported by people like you. Your tax-deductible gift will be wisely invested to make an indelible imprint on our region—our vibrant, creative, inclusive and open region.
Thank you for nurturing this vision.
Jeffrey Meeuwsen
Executive Director - UICA
Founded in 1977, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) is Michigan’s largest contemporary arts center and a dynamic, multidisciplinary laboratory for the advancement of the art of our time. UICA actively challenges both artists and audiences to new levels of dialogue, creative pursuit, reflection, and illumination through: groundbreaking visual arts exhibitions, thought-provoking performances and presentations, studio programs for local artists, cutting edge films, as well as educational and expressive arts programs for youth and adults.
