Annual "Día del Sol" fundraiser celebrates Grandville Avenue community

On June 15, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Grandville Avenue Arts and Humanities will be hosting their annual fundraiser at the Goei Center.

On June 16, 2017, the Grand Rapids Downtown Market will host “Market Masters 2, Back for Seconds." Proceeds from the event will benefit the Downtown Market Education Foundation, which supports culinary and nutritional education, entrepreneur opportunities and local food production.

UICA and Cinema Lab team up to have local panelists dissect the film in terms of horror and feminism.

This group of visionary citizens is celebrating their official incorporation as a cooperative with an old-fashioned potluck picnic at Aberdeen Park this Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join in the festivities.

Saxophonist Richard Elliot will headline the free sixth annual GRandJazzFest presented by DTE Energy Foundation on August 19 and 20.

Mindbender Mansion will be located on the Museum’s third floor in the Lacks exhibit hall and run from May 27 to September 3, 2017.

Students from Head Start for Kent County, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids and the GRCC Laboratory Preschool will visit the museum for one of two exhibits: Whales: Giants of the Deep or Creatures of Light!

Opera Grand Rapids’ production of “The Barber of Seville,” hitting the DeVos Performance Hall stage May 12 and 13, 2017, features a mezzo-soprano that recently performed the production’s star role at The Metropolitan Opera.

The Beer Explorers class will give 40 participants the opportunity to learn about their sense of taste and what combinations appeal to them individually. The class will be led by Brewery Vivant's Wandering Monk and Certified Cicerone, Ryan Engemann, and Grand Rapid’s The Cheese Lady, Heather Zinn.

Over the first week of April, a group of Cook Arts Center students enjoyed their spring break by attending a four-day art camp. The camp was held in partnership with Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD)
