The Funky Buddha has planned a free 90-minute yoga session at 6:30 p.m. on July 1 in Rosa Parks Circle to kick off their expansion. Throughout their 10-day construction, The Funky Buddha plans to offer outdoor classes till they reopen on July 11.

Barely seven months old, one of Grand Rapids' newest yoga studio is expanding to accommodate the growing number of students walking into their studio.

The Funky Buddha Yoga Hothouse, located in Eastown (1331 Lake SE), is increasing its space to 3,400 square feet and increasing the class schedule to offer 30 sessions per week led by a staff of 14.

Greater Grand Rapids has a number of yoga studios that offer styles such as Anusara, Ashtanga Vinyasa to Yin yoga. The Funky Buddha is the first to offer hot yoga exclusively, which sets the thermostat at a minimum of 95 degrees Farenheit. So far, The Funky Buddha has welcomed nearly 3,000 students and continues to grow.
