INTERVIEW
The ‘housing first’ organization Well House is in the midst of a campaign called 19:1, bringing attention to the housing disparity in Kent County. Tami VandenBerg and Jeff Smith of Well House join us in studio to explain the ratio of the county’s vacant dwellings to homeless persons, and to talk about the issues surrounding homelessness.
The 19:1 campaign, with both educational and fundraising focuses, lasts through the end of the year.
The next and final event for the campaign happens tomorrow (Sat., Dec. 21), with the opening of the organization’s newest house at 632 Cass SE at 5p.m., where those who have died experiencing homelessness will be remembered.
Next month is another fundraising opportunity for the organization. Well House is the beneficiary of the upcoming WYCE @ Wealthy Theatre concert on Jan. 16 featuring a performance by San Fermin.
For more on the housing-first organization Well House, see the June 21, 2013 episode of Catalyst Radio.
