A Q&A with Erin Davies, "FagBug" Director

As part of the QUEERIES film series, sponsored by GVSU LGBT Resource Center, Wealthy Theatre is proud to feature a June 25 concert/movie, with LVNMUZQ opening at 7pm, followed by the Grand Rapids premiere of "FagBug," a documentary by Erin Davies.  Davies is here today, and her FagBug is parked in front of Grand Rapids Community Center's Wealthy Theatre all day.  She'll be answering questions following the screening, tonight.

Super Happy Funtime Burlesque going on national tour, fundraise at Electric Cheetah

Super Happy Funtime Burleque is a Grand Rapids based ragtag group of talented performers who bring action and entertainment to the people all around the West Michigan area. Known for pushing the restrictions on stripping, and stepping on the toes of anyone who may want to shut them down, the show never ceases to shock and amaze their audience.

Now, they are going on a national tour, and have been looking to the Grand Rapids community to pay for the trip.

Disclosure: Jon Clay has donated photo services to SHFB's Kickstarter as an incentive for pledges.

Late Morning Vehicle Incident in Baxter

The late morning got loud and smokey with the sound and smell of squealing tires on the street, today, outside the Institute for Global Education (IGE) 1118 Wealthy SE. 

A white, late-model SUV had plowed into the back of a late-model minivan, with engine racing, and the wheels spinning and spewing smoke.

Peter Wege Releases New Book, "Economicology II"

The Wege Foundation hosted a press conference today, to announce the release of Peter Wege's newest book, "Economicology II."  Local media were well represented, including WGVU's Shelley Irwin, GR Press and several local television news reporters. 

Wege Foundation CEO Ellen Satterlee began the press conference by introducing "Economicology II" as part of "Mr. Wege's vision to bring a balance between economics and ecology."

Disclosure: Wealthy Theatre's main house is named after Mr. Wege, who has been a longtime supporter of urban core neighborhood theatre. This article was written by Erin Wilson, director of Wealthy Theatre.
