GRIID Winter Classes

For the last several years, the Grand Rapids Institute for Information and Democracy (GRIID)  has been putting on classes to help spread awareness of important current issues.  Starting in late January they will be offering two classes that have been offered before, but are extremely timely right now.

Beginning on Monday January 25th GRIID will offer a class to discuss the current US war in Afghanistan.   It is a comprehensive and critical look at Afghan history and the United State's complicated involvement there for the last forty years.

Disclosure: I am an active participant in GRIID and the classes they have offered.

Local Group Seeks to Assist Plight of Outdoor Animals in Winter

It is estimated by local animal welfare groups that in Grand Rapids alone, hundreds of companion animals are left to fend for themselves against the cold each winter. Without proper shelter and care, frostbite, hypothermia and death can overtake our pets quickly when the freezing temperatures roll in. One local group is doing what they can to educate and assist local pet owners to make sure that doesn’t happen.
