The Happy Couple: Six Months on Feb. 14.

A-Typical Teenage Couple

If you don’t remember what the stereotypical teenage relationship is like, here’s a reminder, with a few tech updates: Girl dates Boy. Boy flirts with another girl. Girl gets mad and hands on hips, yells at Boy in high school hallway. Boy and Girl fight, through each others’ friends. Girl cries to girlfriends. Boy wonders, with guy friends, What’s the big deal? Finally, they break up…over Facebook.

Ken Stephens & MiraBella Confections: A Labor of Love

Weddings are all about love.  The happy couple professes their love for one another and the family and friends who love them as well. But there is much more than the wedding day that goes into a wedding. Choosing the location, the dress, the food, the photographer, or what color the flowers will be can be extremely stressful.  Those thinking of popping the question this Valentine's Day can rest assured that their wedding cake, if ordered from MiraBella Confections, will be a labor of love.

Relationships: To call each thing by its right name

Matt Russell and I were musing in the office yesterday about the possibilities with February's first story theme: Relationships. We were talking about inanimate objects and why people name them.

Relationships: Finding the Passion to Make it Work

The Rapidian’s current story mapping feature is on relationships and the enigma of the dynamics involved that make relationships succeed or fail. What does it take to make a relationship endure? Obviously there is not a simple solution to this question. In our current day and age divorce has become a commonality. While growing up, I was just about the only kid in my group of friends whose parents were actually still together. It seems all too easy to give up the fight to hold it together for many couples in our society. I myself am on my 2nd marriage.

Facebook used in locating lost cat, supportive community

On January 6 at 7:54 p.m., Gerard Heath popped up on Facebook.  His avatar, an orange tabby cat wrapped in a blanket. His first wall post reads, "I am lost. Please look at my photo and see if you recognize me. I was last seen on Jan. 2 in the evening on Wallinwood Ave. in Grand Rapids NE side by Michigan/Plymouth. I need to find my way back to my family. Please help!"  A few minutes later, pictures of him were added to his profile and the hunt began.

Wall posts of well wishes began pouring in:

I work as an IT professional for the Grand Rapids Public Library. I'm on the board for the West Michigan Co-op (http://www.wmcoop.com/), an online farmers market that links local consumers with local producers all year along. I volunteer for local animal rescue organizations and often foster stray cats and kittens while they await their forever homes. I play D&D, Munchkin, and Musical Catchphrase. I sing Billy Ocean songs at karaoke. I am proud to be a part of the Rapidian, and am on the Editorial Committee.
