- About: Christopher Smit, PhD (University of Iowa) is an Associate Professor of Media Studies at Calvin College. His forthcoming book “The Exile of Britney Spears: A Tale of 21st Century Consumption” (Intellect Books, 2011) examines issues of new media consumption, focusing primarily on the outcomes of celebrity digestion. His writings on disability, art, culture, and popular music can be seen in a wide variety of journals and edited collections. Smit is also a singer songwriter, and fronts the band The New Midwest.
