Traverse City Production Company Opens Downtown Grand Rapids Office

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich: Practical, a Traverse City based film production company announces today the opening of their Grand Rapids office, located in the historic Aldrich Building downtown at the corner of Ottawa Ave and Monroe Center. Practical was formed 7 years ago through the independent film efforts of JohnPaul Morris and has produced content for Northern Michigan clients such as Short’s Brewing, Grand Traverse Resorts, and Armor Express. The opening of a Grand Rapids office poses growth opportunities for both the company and their clientele.
“One of the main reasons we wanted to have a stronger presence in Grand Rapids was to be able to better connect with the already robust filmmaking community here and the momentum that this city already has,” said JohnPaul Morris, founder of Practical. “Filmmaking is incredibly collaborative, and Grand Rapids is an exciting place to be a filmmaker right now. It's a collision of the natural beauty and variation that Michigan has and the resources and manpower of a growing city.”
The youthful company also plans to use this new opportunity to pursue efforts to produce feature films, which is central to the company’s business model. Practical has plans to start production on their first feature film in the Fall of 2017.

Practical is a Michigan-based production team making concept, commercial, and narrative films. They value flexibility and intention with an emphasis on the application of cinematic theory and a well developed film aesthetic. That really just means cameras, research, travel, sketchbooks, sleep, screen time, and running wild.
