Town Hall Meeting to Discuss the City's Financial Position

Neighborhood

Contact: Donijo Robbins DeJonge, City Comptroller

Pitch:

Please join the City leaders for a Town Hall meeting to discuss the City’s finances and budget for
the next fiscal year and beyond. This first of its kind meeting will provide an opportunity for the citizens
of Grand Rapids to learn first-hand from the City Comptroller about the City’s current and future
financial position. The City Comptroller will address questions such as: Can the City pay its bills today,
tomorrow, and beyond? Is the general fund stable? How much debt does the City have? How does the
City compare with other cities? In addition, City leaders will discuss the impact of the City’s finances on
the budget. At the end of the presentation, residents will be given an opportunity to ask questions about
the City’s finances.
Three, one-hour town hall meetings will be held, one in each ward. City Commissioners will be
at the meetings in their respective wards and the Mayor will be attending some of the meetings. The
City Manager, CFO, and City Comptroller, will be at all three meetings. The dates, times, and locations
are as follows:
