The Rapidian to highlight #ThePeopleofGrandRapids in photo series

My local photo series called #ThePeopleOfGrandRapids will be shared with our community here on The Rapidian. In the series I set out intending to bring perspective, wisdom and insight from those I don't know.

The October 22 concert at the Downtown Market will feature the North Carolina band Mipso, with Grand Rapids opener Mark Lavengood.

Lorin Tate opened his business four weeks ago and is currently serving customers on the river side of the Welsh Auditorium.

During the Jurors' Shortlist Announcement on September 28 at the ArtPrize HUB, five jurors announced their top selections, and talked about what makes ArtPrize- and our community's interaction with it- important.

As The Rapidian takes people on photowalks during ArtPrize, and the community is out taking pictures while they're exploring the art downtown, here are some easy tips to help you go from snapshots to storytelling.

At the ArtPrize Hub, Wisemaker of The Geek Group will bring its reclaimed materials downtown so visitors can make their own art inspired by ArtPrize.

The Rapidian will be holding a special Artprize-focused New Reporter training in mid-September and would like to see friendly faces, both old and new

Bike enthusiast Johannah Jelks wants to bring more women into the Grand Rapids bike culture through her campaign, She Rides Her Own Way. The final product will help to link bikers, retail and nonprofits together through advocacy and promotions.

East Hills to celebrate new Cherry Park

Cherry Park has a new splash plaza, community space, stage area and a redesigned layout to increase recreation and neighbor interactions.

ArtPrize, in its seventh year, added its seventh neighborhood. This prompted a focus on the seven Grand Rapids neighborhoods and their unique histories at this year's volunteer event.
