East Hills urban canopy grows with 100 new trees

The East Hills Council of Neighbors continues to move forward on their Urban Forest Plan with the help of the City of Grand Rapids.

The Bubble Bash at The B.O.B. will bring together local programmers, listeners and WYCE staff for their annual holiday celebration.

Instruments of Hope will be presenting a living nativity in the Saint Francis of Assisi Sculpture Garden at the Dominican Center of Marywood this Sunday, December 13.

Grand Rapids' Bosnian restaurant, Bosna Express, recently made significant changes in ownership, beverage offerings and design.

The new series of exhibits features Michigan artists and themes of local platforms for creativity.

Martha's Vineyard has expanded yet again by removing the wall between Martha’s and its Pizza Shop next door. The expansion has created more space for traffic flow inside the popular market, but more importantly, it’s brought a wider grocery selection.

Since coming on the scene in 2013 Grand Rapids Area Black Businesses (GRABB) has been working to elevate the Greater Grand Rapids community’s awareness of Black businesses and the state of Black businesses.

Bombadil Books, opening November 11, will offer binding and restoration services, community events and a quarterly magazine. Co-owners Danielle Alexander and Tim Albon aim to create "a home away from home for creatives and literary-minded people."

Mario Cascante, owner of the new Luna restaurant on Ionia, refuses to label ingredients as “local” on the menu. “We’re not trying to use it as a marketing ploy. We’re doing it because it’s the right thing.”

October 30- November 1, the downtown branch of the Grand Rapids Public Library will be hosting the yearly Dia de los Muertos celebration to celebrate the lives of those who have died.
