Pitch:

Today The Salvation Army Action Group in Grand Rapids recognized other area businesses, organizations and non-profits for "Doing the Most Good" in the community with a dozen donuts. The origins of National Doughnut Day go back to 1917 when Salvation Army ‘Lassie’ Helen Purviance used limited food supplies to fry doughnuts for U.S. World War I soldiers fighting in France. Since that time, National Doughnut Day has been a symbol of The Salvation Army’s support of others in times of need. In continuing with that tradition, we are planning to distribute over 2,000 Krispy Kreme™ doughnuts to local businesses and organizations that are helping to make Grand Rapids a better community.
