Interview The STD Project: A brand-new award-winning website
Contact:
In 5 month's time, The STD Project has won 3 awards and has had more than 150,000 views in over 160 countries. Interview me and help share this resource.
In April of 2012 alongside STD awareness month, I left my career as an analyst for a fortune 300 company to launch The STD Project. As the open administrator (and a Grand Rapids native presently living in East Grand Rapids), I have lived with genital herpes for 14 years. Having an STD has not hindered my love life, inhibited my ambition, or limited my friendships (I’ve auditioned for American Idol, gone skydiving, been an auditor for a Big 4 accounting firm, etc.). An STD, in short, has not stopped me from achieving anything and I want others to know having an STD does not have to impede them either.
The STD Project is an independent website geared toward removing the stigma associated with contracting an STD and living with an STD by encouraging education through story-telling and resource recommendations. By facilitating open and honest communication, The STD Project is taking steps toward modern-day STD prevention ~ removing the stigma to promote awareness and a clearer understanding, thus, allowing people to make conscientious and informed decisions.
