On June 20th and 21st, teams representing nationalities from around the world will compete for the top spot in Bethany Christian Services' fundraiser tournament. Proceeds will benefit Bethany’s Refugee Employment program, which offers services such as job-skills and vocational English classes for refugees, and cultural training and support for employers.
“This is a celebration of our local refugee community as well as a fundraiser,” says Adam Wiersma, the coordinator of the event. “It’s also a fun event for families to come and watch.”
The International Community Cup, underwritten by JBS, will be held Friday, June 20th from 5pm-9pm and Saturday, June 21st from 8am-8pm at Gainey Athletic Complex. Entrance is $5 per person, and is good for the whole weekend. Those interested in forming a team or volunteering should contact Adam Wiersma at 616-965-8065 or [email protected]. For more information, or to volunteer, visit Bethany’s website.
