On Sunday, June 24th from 3 to 9, Premier Skateboarding will be hosting the third annual Clemente Skatepark fundraiser at Godfrey & B Street to celebrate the opening of their new skate shop at 10 Weston. The event will feature a pig roast, silent art auction, skating, lawn games and music. New park features will be opening with skate events throughout the day.
Bring cash to spend: $10 all you can eat pig roast and sides, cheap drinks and plenty of art up for a silent auction ending at 9pm. Bidding on all pieces starts at $50. Featuring art from, in no particular order, Reuben Garcia, Trevor Rowley, George Eberhardt , Matt Wyatt, Adam Niemara, Tom Jenkins, Austin Cox, Ryan Weiss, Jordan Kiel, Rob Kern, Cody Erickson, Sean McMahon, Blake Jablonski and more. All proceeds from sales go directly to furthering the skatepark progress and one artist's piece will be selected for Premier's next skateboard graphic. The event is predicted to bring nearly 500 people into the park system with hopes to provide further awareness to the project and of the community the park seeks to service.
Premier has always been a strong roll in the effort to get a public skatepark in Grand Rapids with attempts in past, so it only seems natural that the Clemente Skatepark project and Premier would become a long time partner to reach that goal. With Premier achieving it's eleventh year in business and achieving its recent Nike SB shoe collaboration, it's proven it's worth to Grand Rapids' local business scene, and is feeling great in a hard economy to be opening a second shop right next door to it's current location.
The Clemente Skatepark committee was founded nearly four years ago with the sole purpose to get Grand Rapids it's first free outdoor public skatepark. As the non profit group developed their project, they expanded into broader community binding details that rounded their project into something they project as a "vital to the local communities physical and mental health."
