The Humane Society of West Michigan is holding their 4th annual 5K walk/run to benefit the animals. This is a fun event for families and groups to bring their dogs (or without) for a night of running/walking, free food and drink, music, photo booth, face painting and other activities for the kids, and more.  Some dogs and owners come dressed in costumes and reflective wear. This year there will also be available a 1-mile course for those that need or perfer a shorter course. A fun evening for everyone who is a dog lover. People are welcome to participate without a dog.

I have participated for two year, and have been on the planning committee for two years.  My black lab mix was rescured and loves the socializing of other dogs and owners.  We just completed the West Michigan Therapy Dog classes and are registered to visit nursing homes, Veterans Home, hospitals, airport, Westwood and many other opportunities for these dogs to brighten someones life. There are many dogs that have been rescured and have stories of their success and the reward of adopting a rescue dog.

The event has grown each year and we are expected over 1,000 participants.
