TURNING ART INTO WATER FOR THE PHILIPPINES
The Philippines Typhoon Relief will be getting some much needed clean water help from a group of young creatives here in Grand Rapids. The group has created an event called Art for Water, which is a public art exhibit occurring on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Art for Water will feature artwork from local area artists and work from around the country. A silent auction of the artwork will occur during the event with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Philippines Typhoon Relief. The event location is at The Forest, a local creative agency located at 133 Division Ave S. Suite 100. The event starts at 7:00 p.m. with a three-dollar entry fee accepted at the door. Additionally the event will feature a product raffle, along with music later in the evening.
Art for Water was created out of the fact we live in a water rich ecosystem being the Great Lakes and clean fresh water is available to us with ease. Providing accessibility of clean water to the Philippines by sending water filters is a step towards helping out our communities across the globe. The non-profit Wine to Water, is matching the amount of donations raised from this event as well.
