AnTI-SEX-TRAFFICKING CONFERENCE BRINGS TOGETHER

LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL EXPERTS

 

WHAT: The Manasseh Project Conference, hosted by Wedgwood Christian Services, to educate professionals in our community on the issue of human trafficking and child sexual exploitation.

 

WHEN:  Media is invited to attend Friday, Jan. 27 through Saturday, Jan. 28. A schedule of conference events can be viewed at the Manasseh Project website, http://www.manassehproject.org/

 

         WHERE: The Salvation Army Kroc Center, 2500 S. Division Avenue, Grand Rapids.

 

WHO: Representatives from Wedgwood as well as national, state and local experts on sex trafficking are convening with more than 100 law enforcement officials, social workers, counselors, psychologists, youth pastors and medical professionals.

 

WHY: To address ways of effectively identifying victims of commercial sexual exploitation, intervening on their behalf and providing them with treatment and care. The U.S. State Department estimates there are 2,400 children who are victims of sexual and labor exploitation in West Michigan.
