On May 17, 2012 Actors’ Theatre Grand Rapids presents the West Michigan premiere of August: Osage County by Tracy Letts.  August: Osage County will be presented May 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, & 26, 2012 at 7:00PM and Sunday, May 20th at 2:00PM at GRCC Spectrum Theater, 160 Fountain Street NE, Grand Rapids.  Please note that start times are scheduled one hour earlier than is customary for Actors’ due to a running time of nearly three hours.
August: Osage County, the final production in the company’s 31st season is directed by Actors’ Theatre Founder and Artistic Consultant, Fred Sebulske and features the talents of veterans such as Jean Reed Bahle (a founding actor of Actors’ Theatre, Lines: The Lived Experience of Race - 2010), Amy Osborn Kaechele (Next Fall – 2012) , Michelle Urbane (Fat Pig – 2007), Paul Dreher (retired Executive Director of Grand Rapids Civic Theatre), Cassandra Caye (Side Show - 2007), Neil P. Trevisan (Kiss of the Spider Woman - 2008) and Teri Kuhlman, among others.
Set in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, August: Osage County spotlights the dysfunctional Weston family as they come together in the midst of a crisis.  Dad has vanished and Mom is addicted to prescription pills as their three adult daughters arrive back at the homestead, each harboring secrets of their own.  As tensions mound and the stakes continue to increase, a collision of family challenge, crisis and change leads to explosion upon explosion of repressed truths and exposed lies.  August: Osage County unflinchingly, and uproariously, exposes a Midwestern American family - and its dark side!
Winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, August: Osage County premiered in 2007 at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater before transferring to successful runs in New York City and London.  In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, the play was the recipient of multiple regional and national awards, including the 2008 Tony Award for Best Play and the 2008 Drama Desk award for Best New Play.  Entertainment Weekly described the play as a “lightning-fast jolt of pure theatrical electricity” and Chicago Tribune called the premiere production “a blast of truth and sin.”
