WHY:             Vibrant parks and public spaces strengthen Grand Rapids’ economic competitiveness, environmental health and cultural wellbeing. WHO:             The Day of Caring is an annual event presented by the Heart of West Michigan United Way. This year, the event corresponds with the National Day of Service and Remembrance on September 13, 2013.  Friends of Grand Rapids Parks is working closely with the United Way, the City of Grand Rapids, neighborhood volunteers, and 9 local companies to volunteer in City parks for this year’s Day of Caring.  Companies include: Fifth Third Bank, Huntington Bank, Steelcase, Spectrum Health, AT&T, Kellogg’s, Farmer’s Insurance, Mercantile Bank, and Vector Distribution.
