The Holland Museum will host Viva la Vida Ofrendas on November 1st from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and November 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Holland Armory as part of el Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) community wide celebrations. The event will honor cultural diversity within the Holland community with community altars on display from a variety of schools, organizations and community partners. Admission to Vida la Vida Ofrendas and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz exhibition will be free.
The goal of the Vida La Vida exhibition is to engage the community in this exciting cultural celebration, providing each member of the community with ways to participate. In order to include all ages, a craft will be available for the children to make and then place on the Holland Community Ofrenda, which is a symbol of the Holland Community growing and coming together, crossing cultural boundaries and embracing diversity.
This year, the Holland Area Arts Council, Holland Museum, the Herrick District Library, Holland's International Relations Commission and Latin Americans United for Progress coordinated their events to host a variety of celebrations that include storytelling, a fame of lotería, the ofrendas at the Armory and a celebration with Aztec music.
