The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary announces 18th annual “Chip in to Change Lives” Charity Golf Outing.

Annual event scheduled for Monday, July 16, 2012
 at Watermark Country Club 1600 Galbraith Avenue SE (off Cascade Road).

For 18 years, The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary has been chipping, driving and putting to help individuals in need in the local Kent County community. Thanks in large part to the generosity of individuals and organizations, the Women’s Auxiliary has raised over $450,000 to assist the work of The Salvation Army with their programs and services which help those who are less fortunate.

All funds raised in support of the golf outing go directly to support the programs and services 
The Salvation Army offers throughout Kent County. Services offered last year included:

·The Salvation Army’s Booth Family Services provided temporary housing for 29 homeless teens and their babies at the Teen Parent Center.

·Booth Family Services also provided emergency utility assistance to 1,977 individuals and emergency food assistance to 10,582 individuals.

·In addition, Booth Family Services’ Housing Assessment Program assisted 8,861 households in completing a housing intake assessment.

 

Sponsorships to support the event are available in four categories ($3,000, $1,000, $600 and $130) as well as individual and foursome registration options. Individual registrations are $125 per golfer and include green fees, cart, and lunch buffet, putting contest as well as special gifts and prizes. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with a 1:00 p.m. tee time. Registration deadline is Monday, July 6 and is limited to 120 participants. Checks should be made payable to The Salvation Army Golf Tournament and sent directly to The Salvation Army / Women’s Auxiliary Golf Tournament, 1215 Fulton Street East, Grand Rapids, MI 49503-3849, Attention: Penny Warfel.

“This is a great way for the local community to get involved, have some fun and support the work of The Salvation Army. All of the money raised here will be put to work in the local community to support the work of The Salvation Army,” said Major Jackie Bowers, Director of Women’s Ministries. “We really see the importance of helping our neighbors, especially during these challenging economic times,” added Bowers.
