All week we've been talking about The Rapidian being the hyperlocal news source, powered by the people of Grand Rapids. Now it's time for us to ask you, our community of readers, reporters and supporters, to help us hit the goal we're setting out to reach. Obviously, this fund drive is about money. However, just as important as monetary support is knowing we have the support of our community. Our goal is to receive 250 donations from our Rapidian family, and we're looking to you to help us reach that goal.
It'll be hard to miss next week: there will be a big green banner across our front page, asking you to join us. It's as easy as clicking that banner and donating. Different donation levels have different premiums, starting with some great Rapidian swag to say "thank you." Other donation options will include different hyperlocal categories: Hyperlocal Foodie, Hyperlocal Artist, Hyperlocal Actor, Hyperlocal Musician and Hyperlocal Shopper. These hyperlocal categories are all great packages generously donated by local businesses, nonprofits, and musicians. Quantities are limited for these premiums, and I have a feeling they'll go quickly because they're all awesome, to say the least.
Next week will be a whirlwind of community activity, and both our Facebook and Twitter sites will be buzzing with fund drive chatter. You'll still get regular news, but we're taking social media by storm, and you can, too. There are already some key people in our community that have pledged their support, and will be helping us spread the word through their social media sites.
We're also really excited to be hosting a Community Celebration in Brewery Vivant's Beer Garden on Sunday April 29 starting at 1 p.m. There will be silent auction items for you to bid on and Stellafly will be there with a photobooth to capture the moment. And last but not least, the first 40 people through the door get a free beer on us-thanks to some generous sponsorship from the individuals serving on our GRCMC Board of Directors.
It's one more way for us to say thank you to the community that helps keep The Rapidian going.
The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.
We need your help.
If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.
