The Dominican Institute for the Arts (DIA) is sponsoring two inspiring and life-changing events that are part of the DIA's 14th Annual Gathering of Dominican Artists: 1) A retreat for artists and those who appreciate art; 2) the DIA Art Gala Evening Fundraiser. Both events are co-hosted by Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids and Dominican Center at Marywood .

1. "FEEL THE FLAME - CATCH THE FIRE - BURN WITH PEACE!"

RETREAT PRESENTERS

Sister Ann Willits, OP, a Dominican Sister from Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, is a preacher, author, poet, humorist and expert storyteller. Ann takes the simple stuff of life and makes it extraordinary. Her diverse audiences find laughter and fancy in her words as they meet the many faces of God through her gift of preaching.

Father Jim Marchionda, OP, is a Dominican priest, preacher, composer, conductor, singer and woodwind instrumentalist. He offers parish missions, workshops, and concerts throughout the United States and abroad. Composer of more than 100 published sacred musical pieces, Father Jim's unique ministry successfully combines preaching with a professional career in sacred music.

When these two unique personalities get together, they will build up spiritual strength in the heart of the artist and art lover through their thoughtful, joy-filled delivery of Gospel truths. You won't want to miss this event!

When: Wednesday, July 28, 2010 ( 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.) and Thursday, July 29, 2010 (9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) Lunch is included.

Where: Dominican Chapel at Marywood - located in Dominican Center || 2025 Fulton Street East || Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503.

Cost: The $100.00 fee includes lunch and a pass to Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park (The Chihuly glass sculpture exhibit is currently on display through September 30, 2010). A $25 non-refundable deposit is required. Your $25 non-refundable check should be made out to DIA and sent to Dominican Center at Marywood || 2025 Fulton Street East || Grand Rapids, MI 49503. No overnight accommodations available.

2. DIA ART GALA EVENING - Open to the Public (No entry fee)

 What: Join the closing evening of the 14th Annual DIA Gathering (Dominican Institute for the Arts). The DIA Art Gala Fundraiser will offer multiple raffle and silent auction artifacts provided by member artists of the DIA. Delicious edibles and quality entertainment will be yours to enjoy!

When: Friday, July 30, 2010, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Where: Dominican Center at Marywood || 2025 Fulton Street East || Grand Rapids, MI 49593.

RSVP: Response required by July 15 to allow for accurate attendance count.
