With increased costs and decreased assistance (like Michigan Promise scholarships & food stamps), is college still affordable?

You can say what you want about California's economic woes (and they have plenty), but an excellent community college/junior college education there costs less than $30 per credit hour vs. GRCC at $95. If a State doesn't value education it can't happen for lots of people.

"In fiscal 2010, Michigan ranked 45th in per-capital state financial aid."
