On Thursday, December 4 at 6 p.m., the GR Forward Thinking Speaker Series continues with "Economic Development and Equity" at Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD). This second events will feature Don Edwards, Principal of Justice and Sustainability Associates. The evening will begin with a presentation given by the keynote speaker followed by discussion sessions focusing on the topic's relevance to Grand Rapids.
"The Speaker Series creates an opportunity to enhance the discourse around our city and our approaches to city building," says Kristopher Larson, President and CEO of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. "The trends that are present in Grand Rapids can be seen in many other contexts, so by gathering industry leaders and our community, we hope to encourage visionary approaches to changes in our community.”
The event, part of the GR Forward programming, is free and open to the public.
Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., in cooperation with the City of Grand Rapids, is developing a strategy for the restoration and future implementation of the Grand River and downtown area with their planning process called GR Forward. The initiative is designed to glean input from the community and explore precedence where other urban centers have been successful.
The series will continue through March of 2014. Stay tuned for updates.
