East Hills BlowHards organize to keep sidewalks clear

Local neighbors have teamed up to volunteer their snow blowing services in order to keep sidewalks clear.

The East Hills BlowHards, a volunteer group of individuals from the neighborhood and Brewery Vivant staff, have organized to help keep nieghborhood sidewalks clear of snow and ice.

The group formed as a response to East Hill's mission to promote a four season neighborhood.

"Every winter we experience an increase of foot traffic, and having clear paths for people to navigate around our neighborhood is important," says director of EHCN Rachel Lee.

This is the first year the group has organized and Lee is hoping the word will get out so when the next big snowfall hits people can be prepared to act.

Fairmount Square is the major area of concentration right now but with more volunteers an even wider parameter can be covered.

For those needing assistance with snow removal they can call the City of Grand Rapids who will put you contact with the BlowHards.

For more information or to offer your volunteer services please contact Rachel Lee at EHCN.
