Downtown Market to host upcoming Flight Friday featuring a selection of bite-sized cuisine

On April 27, the Grand Rapids Downtown Market will host Flight Friday, a food and drink small bites event, from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

What is a flight, you ask? In a nutshell, a flight is a number of small bites of food or drink, for the purpose of trying multiple styles or flavors in moderate quantities, in one sitting. Most people are familiar by now with flights of beer or spirits, but did you know that food can be served in flights too?

Next Friday, Market guests can purchase unique and tasty flight-sized specials throughout the Market Hall. From flights of spirits and coffee, to mini scones, ice cream and pasta, the Downtown Market is celebrating the adventurous eater, with opportunities to try new flavors and different types of food and drinks in small tastes.

“If you’ve ever looked at a menu and had trouble choosing just one item, this event is perfect for you,” said Amanda Gielczyk, director of marketing and special events. “Flight Friday at the Downtown Market offers several unique small bite menu options for guests to purchase.”

Participating businesses and their flight offerings include:

·       SLOWS BAR-B-Q: The Big Three Classics Flight: quarter pound of our heavy hitters - beef brisket, pulled pork, and apple BBQ glazed chicken AND Dark Horse Brewery Flight – Brewery mainstays, plus specialty pours

·       CARVER’S: Slider Trio – Hot Chicken, Hot Ham & Swiss and the classic Diner Slider

·       SWEETIE-LICOUS: Mini-Cookie Flight: chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and oatmeal raisin butterscotch

·       MADCAP: Tasters Flight: Three courses will include a filter coffee, espresso and macchiato pairing, and a barista's choice finale.

·       FISHLADS: Slider Trio: Shrimp salad, lobster and salmon burger slider

·       FIELD & FIRE: Scone Flight: miniature scones in 3 flavors - chocolate chip, sweet cream, and cranberry orange
