Odom Reusable Building Materials expands to West Michigan, opens new retail store

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – August 18, 2014 – Odom Reusable Building Materials (Odom RE-USE) today announced the opening of its new Grand Rapids home improvement retail store.  Located at 1029 4 Mile road NW, just west of Alpine Avenue, Odom RE-USE provides reclaimed building materials at prices that are up to 50 percent less than comparable new items.

To celebrate the opening of its new Grand Rapids location, Odom RE-USE is providing shoppers with an extra savings of up to 20 percent through August 31.  Additionally, a coupon for 20 percent off a future purchase will be provided with each transaction.  Four free flower box and bookshelf workshops will also take place throughout the month.

Interior and exterior doors, windows, kitchen cabinets, sinks, bathroom vanities, exotic hardwood flooring, wood trim, lighting, shelving and slate blackboards fill the aisles of the 8,200-square-foot store.  One of Odom RE-USE’s most unique products is a reclaimed pine bowling lane, which can be used to create custom kitchen islands, table tops or even bathroom vanities.

“We are a ‘dream store’ for do-it-yourselfers,” said Bruce Odom, owner of Odom Reusable Building Materials.  “Many of our reclaimed products are ‘rare finds’ that feature a higher level of quality and craftsmanship than new products.”

Customers can stretch their dollar even further by trading-in clean, reusable materials that are in-demand and not in surplus.  Each trade-in allows customers to earn store credit towards future purchases.

In addition to the customer donations and trade-ins, Odom RE-USE generates inventory by working with local contractors to remove unwanted material from remodel and demolition sites.  Odom RE-USE’s licensed and experienced field crews efficiently remove materials from institutional (e.g., schools and hospitals), commercial and residential sites.

“Our service saves contractors valuable time and expenses,” said Odom.  “Hauling and tipping fees associated with the removal of materials can be eliminated and we pay cash for items like cabinet sets and exterior doors.”

In addition to the new Grand Rapids retail location, Odom RE-USE has a store in Traverse City, which was opened in 1998.  Odom RE-USE is open on Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Editor’s Note

Free flower box and bookshelf workshops will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Saturday, August 23
  • Wednesday, August 27
  • Friday, August 29
