Michigan Families to Hold Tiger Costume Party, Urge Kellogg’s to be a Forest Hero

Contact:

Pitch:

Grand Rapids – On Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 1 – 3 PM, Michigan kids, parents and the Forest Heroes Campaign will come together for a Tiger Costume Party at the Fountain Street Church. Kids dressed in tiger costumes, ears and tails will play tiger games and learn about the Sumatran tiger, which is being pushed to the brink of extinction.

The Tiger Costume Party is the latest event asking Kellogg’s CEO John Bryant to end a joint partnership with Wilmar International, as long as the Asian agribusiness giant relies on palm oil from destroyed Sumatran tiger habitat. Over the past month, hundreds of Michiganders have asked Kellogg’s, “What Would Tony Say?”

The event will also feature information for parents about how to have a Tiger-Friendly Halloween – tips to handing out candy and treats that don’t contain deforestation-based palm oil. Parents will learn what candy does and does not contain palm oil – and whether some brands of candy are better than others.
