The Lady of Dance, created By Miss Kim Rudolph
Contact:
The Lady of Dance , a plaster 2-D sculpture by Kim Rudolph, on display at the Ford Museum, Is amazing. Miss Rudolph has created a sculpture that captures many elements of artistic style. Movement, Elegance of form, use of light and shadow, to enhance the sculpture, giving it the feel of a three dimensional piece. It is created in a classical style that evokes Roman-Greek classical sculpture, yet is a contemporary piece. Since its appearance at Artprize it has drawn people to it again and again, some moved to tears at its beauty. I compliment Miss Rudolph on her acheivement. I had a rare opportunity to get to know the artist through correspondence, emailing back and forth as she worked on it over the last year, discussing her background, inspirations, and drive to create her own unique style. It has been a very exhilirating experience. Miss Rudolph has other works, executed in charcoal, oils and watercolor, all evoking the same brillance. Her work, has the ability to project emotion. In her charcoals i see sadness, joy, defiance, and put simply the raw emotion one sometimes feels. Prior to seeing Kims work , I hadn't been aware of her accomplishments, which is a shame for her works are of museum quality. It is my hope and her dream that she will be known as one of the greatest artist of the 21st century.
As a former Art History student, I thought I was versed with knowledge of artists of the 19th century. But, Miss Rudolph introduced me to the works of Camille Claudel, a protege of the french sculptor, Auguste Rodin , who also put soul into her works. I have learned so much these past months. She (Miss Rudolph) is an amazing lady
