Pitch:

Bethany Christian Services, a global family preservation and child welfare agency, in partnership with Cornerstone University, will host renowned immigration advocate Jenny Yang during an informative discussion on immigration from a Christian perspective. The event, Immigration and Faith: One Nation Under God, will be held on Tuesday, October 22 from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at the Bernice Hansen Athletic Center at Cornerstone University.

Yang, the vice president of advocacy and policy at World Relief and coauthor of Welcoming the Stranger: Justice, Compassion and Truth in the Immigration Debate, will speak to the complex issue of immigration from a Christian perspective — the common myths, why current laws are ineffective, how Christians are biblically called to respond, and how the community can make a difference.  There will be a panel discussion following Yang’s presentation, as well as an opportunity for questions.

“At the forefront of debate in Washington is the issue of immigration,” said Bill Blacquiere, Bethany president and CEO. “While it is unlikely there ever will be a consensus on how we should proceed with immigration, decisions on this matter will impact our country and hundreds of thousands of lives for generations to come. With the clear biblical mandate to love the foreigner among us, the Christian community cannot stand on the sidelines on this debate. Insights from thought leaders such as Ms. Yang must be heard and discussed so that we can protect the most vulnerable.”

Bethany is a leading provider of services for refugees. Representatives from Bethany’s Refugee Resettlement and Refugee Foster Care departments will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions.
