Hip Hop, Education and Politics at Billy's Lounge

Greetings,
Dope Idea and Grand Rapids Hip Hop Coalition are pleased to announce the First Annual Higher Learning Hip Hop Scholarship Fundraiser. This event will be a public expo of Hip Hop culture exhibited in a revue composed of its collective elements: Music, Poetry, Art, and Break Dance. Local Hip Hop acts will perform authentic content for public entertainment and education.
The goal of this ‘scholarship’ fundraiser is to demonstrate the relationship between Hip Hop and education to promote the benefit of higher learning as a valuable opportunity to community. Quite frankly, Hip Hop is commonly accused for crimes being committed by American pop culture and is getting a bad "rap."
Coverage of this unprecedented event is highly recommended. Anticipated guests are community, political, and business leaders. Content has been catered to them. From 6pm to 8pm there will be a panel discussion with Q&A between the audience and local hip hop leaders.
Please join us at Billy’s Lounge August 1, 2013, doors open at 6pm.
Thank you,
Emberly Vick
