Pianist Ralph Votapek, Gold Medalist in the first Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, joins Associate Conductor John Varineau and the Grand Rapids Symphony at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16-17, for the opening of the 2016-17 Classical Series with George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" plus music from Aaron Copland's “Appalachian Spring" and Maurice Ravel's Suite No. 2 from "Daphnis et Chloe."
