Grand Rapids Marches Against Monsanto on May 25th

Pitch:

The call has been made. On May 25th there will be a widespread day of action taking place across the nation. The call is for people to take to the streets against the monolithic giant that is Monsanto.

As members of the agricultural region that is the Midwest, the people of Grand Rapids, and Michigan at large, have an obligation to their neighbors to raise awareness and educate the public about this destructive colossus ravaging the lives of farmers, seed cleaners, and the health of the general public. The threats and intimidation techniques used by this company on farmers and other local businesses of our agricultural regions is a slight against our neighbors. We are a community and as such we must stand up for one another. United we stand, divided we fall.

We will be meeting at Monument Park at 1:30pm. There will be networking and socializing until 2:00pm. At 2:00pm there will be a quick educational discussion of Monsanto and a Q&A. Depending on the length of the discussion we will begin marching between 2:30pm and 2:45pm. We will end our march in Ah-Nab-Awen Park where there is an all-day awareness and education event. Resources such as local non-GMO food sources, how to vote with your dollar, and other guides will be there as well as workshops, vendors, and speakers. If you are unable to walk the march or don’t have the time to march, the event at Ah-Nab-Awen begins at 2pm and runs through the rest of the day. Action is a result of thought, which is why it is vital to be educated and informed!
