Novelist Kristina Riggle’s workshop will include tips for writing characters so vital and vivid, your readers will feel like they walk off the page. Kristina will also discuss tips for crashing through the obstacles in the way of your writing, which takes guts.
A character is, like anything in fiction, a conspiracy of imagination between the writer and reader. But how to make sure your reader’s disbelief is suspended so much she feels like your characters are living, breathing people? In this session, Kristina will discuss the components of characters who feel so true-to-life that your readers hate to leave them behind after “The End.” Once you’ve got your characters and your story taking shape, it can still be a battle to keep writing. Rejection, disruption, and days when the creativity well just feels empty; all of these can sap your energy and your will. Platitudes are no help, so Kristina will provide practical tips for surviving rejection and crashing through writer’s block. There will be time for Q&A as well, so bring those publishing and writing questions!
This workshop is on Sunday, March 20, from 3-5 pm and is limited to 12 participants. The fee for this workshop is $50. If you are a member of GLCL, you qualify for $10 off the workshop fee (please use 10OFFMEMBER as a coupon code to take advantage of this member benefit; membership will be verified).
