Winter Wonderland Holiday Open House
December 11
3-9 p.m.
Grand Rapids Downtown Market (435 Ionia Avenue SW)Eve, an all-new destination for local food innovation, education and experimentation, kicks off the holiday season in December with a Winter Wonderland Holiday Open House on December 11 and Very Merry Outdoor Markets on December 7 and 14.
The Very Merry Market Days on December 7 and 14 provide a festive outdoor market atmosphere, giving shoppers the opportunity to buy wreaths, Christmas trees and holiday gifts and decor. These items will join the regular outdoor market fare of food items including produce, baked goods, meats and cheeses. The outdoor markets will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on both days.
“The Downtown Market is a perfect location for holiday shopping when it’s cold outside, with nearly 20 vendors all under one roof,” says Mimi Fritz, president and CEO of the Market. “The variety of local products in the Market Hall makes for a perfect assortment of fresh food for holiday entertaining as well as unique gifts and stocking stuffers.”
The Winter Wonderland Holiday Open House on December 11 from 3-9 p.m. features free events to get kids, adults and families in the holiday spirit and provide holiday cooking and gift inspiration. The Open House includes fun sights and sounds for children and families, including live reindeer, Santa, carolers, roasting chestnuts and cookie decorating, as well as food demos and bars with holiday-themed beverages for the adults. Some Market Hall vendors will also have featured holiday products available during the event.
The Grand Rapids Downtown Market is the region’s new choice for fresh, delicious foods and amazing public market merchants. The Market is a $30 million, self-sustaining, LEED-certified, mixed-use facility that brings together production, distribution, marketing and education about local foods and growing. It incorporates entrepreneur and experimentation space for both emerging and experienced food artisans and merchants including a 24-vendor Market Hall, large outdoor farmer’s market and two full-service restaurants coming soon, one of which will be a micro-brewery.
