Checker Motors survived for 87 years by finding a peculiar niche in the automotive market. They made taxicabs. With determination and cunning, by building better vehicles, and by supplying quality parts, they navigated through the Depression, multiple recessions, a World War, and various corporate shenanigans. Largely unknown, their story rivals any in American automotive history.
