In support of the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, the Michigan International Auto Show is having their annual Charity Spectacular event at the DeVos Place on Wednesday, February 5.
This black tie event is an exclusive preview of more than 300 cars, trucks and SUVs along with a strolling dinner that includes a variety of cuisines, from sushi to Mexican. Gluten free and vegan options are available as well.
“The charity spectacular event gives the people a more intimate viewing of all the cars that will be in the auto show,” says Dawn Baker, show manager.
During the dinner there will be a silent auction, wine tasting and Michigan craft brew tasting. The Fashion Overdrive salon competition will be the live entertainment for the evening.
“For the Fashion Overdrive, we invite local salon teams and models from the Matthew Agency to compete against other salons for recognition,” Baker says. “This is the second year we are doing this for our live entertainment.”
The salons will be paired up with a vehicle and will have an hour to work on the models near the vehicle, Baker says. Afterward, a runway fashion show will allow everyone to see the finished designs.
Hotel Venus, Panopolous Salon and Amway Grand Plaza Spa & Salon are just some of the salons participating this year.
“In the last eight years we have given over a million dollars to the Helen DeVos Children’s hospital through this charity event,” Baker says. “That’s a pretty amazing number.”
Attendees also have the option to purchase a raffle ticket at $50 for a chance to win a 2014 Cadillac ATS Sedan or a flat screen TV. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold.
The Charity Spectacular is from 6:30 to 10 p.m. and tickets are $150 in advanced and at the door. Tickets can be reserved by calling Laurie Alighire at 616-391-9125. All proceedings from this event go to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The Michigan International Auto Show will be from February 6 through 9 at the DeVos place. Tickets are $10 for adults, $4 for kids and free for ages 5 and under.
