Instruments of Hope invites you all: your family and your pets – all kinds of birds, all kinds of beasts, and all kinds of creeping and crawling things - for a Blessing of the Animals. This blessing will take place on Sunday afternoon, October 7, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Francis Sculpture Garden’s San Damiano Piazza, located at 2025 East Fulton Street on the Marywood campus minutes from downtown Grand Rapids.  Dominican Center at Marywood  is pleased to host this gathering that asks God to bless our loyal animal companions.

The blessing will be led by Ginny Makita of First United Methodist Church. This ritual is performed in many countries as a way of celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, known for his great love of all creatures. The event is free, although offerings will be gladly accepted and used to assist Instruments of Hope in completing the garden. For more information, please visit www.instrumentsofhope.net .

Learn about what happened with Francis and the Wolf of Gubbio and see if peace can be bestowed upon your animal as well! Cider for the humans and treats for the animals will be provided. Instruments of Hope will provide cider for the humans and treats for the animals.

We hope to see you and your pets there; and in addition, what animal can’t use a blessing and at the same time find out what’s going on with all the construction in the woods!
