Meet Jill Hinton, Chief Heroine of the Grand Rapids-based Outdoor Book Club, an adventure travel company for women based on great books. Hinton offers outdoor-based weekends and week-long adventures for women, designed around the themes of great books. In September Hinton led women on a backpacking trip based on Bill Bryson's famous memoir A Walk in the Woods, and this month she's leading a meditation retreat based on Jon Kabat Zinn's Wherever You Go, There You Are. Every trip includes lodging, meals and equipment. An Army vet and mom to five kids and two dogs, Hinton is passionate about helping women "discover their inner heroines" using support, enthusiasm and patient instruction.
